Dead Things | Cannery Row

The preservation of the dead, a resurrection by embalming, is one of the most fascinating elements of any history museum, in Cannery Row wrought large and ultimately transformed. The buildings themselves once stood as the skeletons of a dead industry, and now the area is again preserved instead as a celebration of its own revitalization. Beyond memorializing its history alone, it is the very process of doing so, and the successful reanimation of the former industrial cemetery, that are memorialized.
